DNS Lookup FAQ

What is a DNS lookup?

It asks the internet's address book what a domain points to: its server IP, email servers, text records and more.

Why do I see an old value?

DNS answers are cached for the time shown as TTL. After a change, use the DNS Propagation Checker to see which servers have the new value.

What do TXT records do?

They hold text like SPF email rules, DKIM keys and verification codes for Google, Microsoft and other services.

Can I look up a subdomain?

Yes. Enter it exactly, like shop.example.com.
