Time Card Calculator FAQ

How do I calculate hours worked?

Subtract the start time from the end time and take off unpaid breaks. 9:00 to 17:00 with a 30 minute break is 7.5 hours.

How do I convert minutes to decimal hours?

Divide the minutes by 60. 45 minutes is 0.75 hours, so 7 hours 45 minutes is 7.75 hours.

When does overtime start?

Under US federal law, after 40 hours in a work week, paid at least 1.5 times the normal rate. Some states, like California, also count overtime after 8 hours in a day.

Can I use it for night shifts?

Yes. If the time out is earlier than the time in, it is counted as finishing the next day.
